LID CONTROL One of the most important aspects of putting on a contact lens is controlling the patient and the patient's lids. First stand beside the patient, not in front of the patient. Assuming you are working from the patient’s right side, place your left forearm on the patient’s head. Place the right hand, the hand with the lens, on the patient’s cheek. This minimizes the patient’s head movement when you are trying to put the lens on and if their head does move some you will move with it.
